Q. Do we need first aid medical cover if we are organising an event – even if it is only a small event?
A. Yes, you have a responsibility to competitor’s, members of staff and the attending public to provide suitable first aid medical cover.

A. We are fully insured including vehicles and staff
Q. Is your company and are your staff qualified to carry out the services you offer?
A. All of our staff are NHS trained and most of them still work within the NHS. All our staff, if needed go through in house training/assessment before being employed.
Q. Are you part of the NHS?
A. No, we are not part of the NHS, we are a private and independently owned company. We do, on occasion, work in conjunction with the NHS.
Q. Which areas do you cover?
A. We cover all around the coventry and surrounding areas including Gloucester, Leicestershire etc. We will always look at providing a quote for a job that you think may be out of our area so please feel free to contact us.
Q. Do all your staff wear a uniform?
A. Yes, all our staff wear a uniform, we have blue trousers and a blue or yellow high vis tshirt and these always have the MedEvent logo and the staffs qualification on. Our staff also have ID badges.
Q. What is a medical practitioner, e.g. doctor?
A. A 'qualified medical practitioner' is a medical practitioner registered with the General Medical Council in the UK. The medical practitioner should be familiar with, or have access to, the local authority and NHS major incident plans and have completed a course in major incident management. The medical practitioner should also have recent experience in dealing with emergencies in the pre-hospital or accident and emergency environment (within two years) and be familiar with the operation of the local NHS ambulance service and competent first-aid providers In addition, he or she should have attended a course in pre-hospital emergency care.
Q. What is a qualified nurse?
A. A 'qualified nurse' is a nurse whose name is entered in the relevant part of the professional register maintained by the UK Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting. The qualified nurse should have post-registration knowledge and recent experience in dealing with emergencies in the pre-hospital or accident and emergency environment (within two years).
Q. What is a paramedic?
A. A 'paramedic' is a member of an NHS ambulance service who holds a current certificate of proficiency in paramedical skills, and who has immediate access to the appropriate level of specialist equipment, including drug therapy. It is a recognised profession governed and regulated by the Health Professionals' Council (HPC). ICM paramedics operate to UK Ambulance Service Clinical Practice Guidlines (2006), which cover the full range of paramedic treatments across the UK, and receive annual updates to maintain their high skill levels.

A. An 'ambulance technician' is a member of an NHS ambulance service who holds a current
certificate of proficiency in ambulance aid skills issued by the IHCD.

A. An 'ambulance care assistant' is a member of an NHS ambulance service who has completed an ambulance care assistant course at an IHCD recognised ambulance training establishment.

A 'first aider' is a person who holds a current certificate of first-aid competency issued by any of the three voluntary aid societies (or certain other bodies or organisations): St John's Ambulance, British Red Cross Society or St Andrew's Ambulance Association.
